Welcome to the 2015-16 online school year for the eLearning Consortium Canada.
This year we have an exciting new course: Issues in Human Development/AP Psychology that many schools have been requesting. In addition to our many fully online credit courses that we offer this year, we now have almost 200 students taking online blended learning Modules in grades 5, 6, 8, and 12. As Blended Learning becomes more accepted in our schools, we can make use of the many online Modules already created.
Our teachers are excited to use the latest new tools in our Blackboard Learning Management System since its recent update this summer. This includes a new Mobile app for students called BbStudent, which allows students to access their courses and blended learning modules on Smartphones and Tablets.
The Retention Centre is a dashboard that shows teachers student work completion, logins, percentage of work related to others in the course, etc. It also flags students who are not meeting course expectations through test and quizzes. This tool help teachers identify students who require more support quickly and easily and allows us to ensure they are successful in their courses or modules.
All our courses and modules have access to Blackboard Collaborate Web, a live virtual classroom where teachers can meet with students, demonstrate course material, or have students present to each other in the class. The important of synchronous meetings with students is a key element of our highly interactive courses.

Schools interested in joining the Consortium for the 2016-17 school year may apply now. We look forward to adding more schools across Canada to our growing community. In addition to credit courses for Grade 9-12 students and our online Modules for K-12 blended learning, we are also exploring Reach Ahead Credits. ELCC is working to meet the specific needs of each school, with customized solutions. But no matter what type of online learning students experience or what grade they are in, students have full access to all the Blackboard LMS tools.
