Course Description

This course introduces students to advanced accounting principles that will prepare them for post-secondary studies in business. Students will learn about financial statements for various forms of business ownership and how those statements are interpreted in making business decisions. This course expands students’ knowledge of sources of financing, further develops accounting methods for assets, and introduces accounting for partnerships and corporations.

Course Delivery

This course is run through Blackboard. Content includes slides, videos, reading material, and discussion boards. Students have an opportunity to share their knowledge and provide feedback to their peers through various media tools such as Padlet and VoiceThread.

Synchronous sessions provided on demand are used to explain the new material and review the assigned questions.

Assessment and Evaluation

Quizzes, exercises, journals, blogs are some of the ways students demonstrate their knowledge in this course. The final culminating task requires students to take on the role of a portfolio manager and discuss the top-performing stock using the knowledge of financial analysis techniques to analyze accounting data for decision-making purposes.
